Shockwave therapy uses pulses of high‑energy acoustic waves to stimulate the body’s natural repair processes. The waves are delivered through a handheld applicator placed on the skin over the injured area. As the shockwaves travel into the tissues, they increase blood flow, break down fibrous scar tissue and promote the formation of new healthy tissue.

This non‑invasive treatment is often used for stubborn tendon and ligament injuries such as tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy and calcific shoulder tendonitis. It can also be helpful for muscle injuries that have not responded to other care. Patients typically feel a tapping sensation during treatment; discomfort is minimal and sessions are brief.

At New Life Chiropractic we use shockwave therapy as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program. By increasing circulation and stimulating cellular activity, shockwaves can accelerate healing and reduce pain without injections or surgery. Treatment plans are customised based on the severity and location of your condition. After a course of therapy many people experience improved mobility and a quicker return to activity.
