Musculoskeletal ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique that uses high‑frequency sound waves to create real‑time pictures of soft tissues. Unlike X‑rays or MRI scans, ultrasound allows us to view muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves as they move. This dynamic view is particularly helpful when evaluating shoulder impingement, tendonitis, muscle strains, ligament sprains and nerve entrapment syndromes.

During the exam, our trained clinician applies a small probe and gel to the area of interest. The probe emits sound waves and collects the echoes to build a live image on a screen. We can watch tissues glide, assess the severity of inflammation and even show you how injuries change with movement. Ultrasound is non‑invasive, comfortable and does not expose you to radiation. It also allows us to quickly compare the injured side with the healthy side to see subtle differences.

At New Life Chiropractic we use musculoskeletal ultrasound to gather objective information that guides your care plan. The ability to visualise tissues in motion helps us identify the source of pain and determine whether a referral or another therapy is needed. Ultrasound examinations are typically performed as part of your assessment and can be repeated over time to track healing progress.
